Saint☆Onii-san

Have you ever wondered what would happen if Jesus and Buddha were roommates? no? neither have I, but apparently Hikaru Nakamura (who you might know as the author of Arakawa Under the Bridge) did.

If you're familiar with Arakawa, then you know that Nakamura-sensei makes some bizarre stuff, and this isn't the exception. The episode is divided into a series of short segments like a lot of slice-of-life shows are. In these bite sized chapters we see the formidable landlady, trying to uncover her new tenants' secret identities as they get mistaken for ninjas, street performers and .....alien ping-pong players from the planet button?, what the deities do on their off time (Jesus is a dedicated j-drama blogger), how they ended up in Japan and other shenanigans.

I love this like I loved Arakawa. What really makes the show so great to me is the balance between the weird, the funny and the endearing. All of the characters are damned lovable (even the strict landlady) . To me the best scene is when at the mention of them not having enough money to feed themselves, a cat readily jumps into a plate and another one gives them matches.

Is this a one episode thing? I don't know. I'll be waiting to see, but if not there is always the manga :)
